FCCPC SHUTS PROPERTY FIRM OVER ALLEGED FAILURE TO ALLOCATE PLOTS TO SUBSCRIBERS

Nigeria’s Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has shut down the premises of PWAN Max Property and Business Solution Limited over allegations of failure to allocate plots of land to customers who had fully paid for them.

The enforcement action, carried out in Lagos State by the FCCPC Southwest Zonal Coordinator, Dr Olubunmi Otti, followed complaints from subscribers who accused the real estate company of failing to deliver 20 plots of land despite full payment made in 2024.

According to the commission, investigations began after a petition was filed in February 2025, prompting repeated invitations for the company’s management to respond to the allegations. The firm allegedly failed to honour two separate invitations before eventually appearing before the commission.

During the proceedings, PWAN Max reportedly committed to allocating the disputed plots and providing necessary title documents by June 30, 2025. However, the company is said to have failed to meet the deadline.

The FCCPC stated that it subsequently issued a formal compliance notice requiring the company to remedy the breach within a specified timeframe. Despite being duly served, the firm allegedly did not comply with the directive.

Citing provisions of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) 2018, the commission said it was left with no option but to seal the company’s premises after continued non-compliance.

The FCCPC explained that the action is a corrective consumer protection measure aimed at enforcing compliance rather than punishment, adding that the premises will remain closed until the issue is fully resolved and a compliance certificate is issued.

The commission also urged businesses to take regulatory notices seriously and advised consumers to conduct proper due diligence before engaging in financial transactions, especially in property dealings.
