President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for completing a seven-kilometre access road serving communities around the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

Represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during the inauguration ceremony on Thursday, the president described the project as the fulfilment of a long-standing commitment to residents affected by the construction of the airport’s second runway.
The newly completed road links Bill Clinton Drive to the Tungan Madaki community and features a four-span bridge designed to improve connectivity and ease transportation within the area.

Tinubu noted that the affected communities had sacrificed land for the expansion of the airport but were left for years without adequate road infrastructure. He said the project was initiated to address that imbalance and improve the living conditions of residents.
According to the president, national development should not come at the expense of citizens, stressing that communities that contribute to major government projects deserve corresponding benefits and infrastructure.
He praised the FCT administration for completing the road within 16 months of approval, describing the achievement as evidence of effective leadership and project delivery.
The president also urged residents to protect the infrastructure by preventing encroachment and ensuring drainage systems are properly maintained to preserve the road’s lifespan.
Tinubu further defended the economic reforms introduced by his administration, acknowledging the challenges faced by Nigerians while insisting that the measures were necessary for the country’s long-term growth and stability.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering impactful projects across the country and improving the quality of life for citizens through sustained investment in infrastructure and development.
