The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, has reiterated his commitment to service and progress.
He paid a courtesy visit to the Eleko of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu I, at the Iga Idungaran Palace in Lagos in a symbolic engagement aimed at reinforcing the enduring relationship between government and traditional institutions.
Hamzat, whose mother hails from Lagos Island, paid homage to the revered monarch, acknowledging the pivotal role of traditional rulers in preserving cultural values, fostering peace, and promoting unity across Lagos communities.
He emphasised that the state’s continued progress is deeply rooted in respect for its heritage and the wisdom of its traditional institutions.
Hamzat, accompanied by the party chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, also visited the historic Ègbè Family House, one of the notable heritage sites reflecting Lagos’s rich cultural history and ancestral legacy. The visit underscored the importance of preserving historical landmarks and promoting cultural consciousness among younger generations.
Hamzat reiterated the administration’s commitment to safeguarding Lagos’s cultural identity while pursuing inclusive development and modernisation. He noted that culture and tradition remain essential pillars for social cohesion, community development and responsible leadership.
