Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu has officially joined the United States Army, marking a major milestone in his life after successfully completing 10 weeks of intensive Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Sharing the news on his Instagram page, Momodu described the military training as one of the most demanding experiences he has ever faced. He revealed that recruits spent 10 weeks with little or no contact with family and friends while enduring rigorous physical drills, mental pressure, harsh weather conditions, and strict discipline.
Reflecting on the journey, the actor said he has always believed in earning success through hard work and perseverance. Although there were moments of doubt, he remained focused on completing the programme.
“We trained tirelessly, were broken down and rebuilt. I went to sleep a civilian and woke up a soldier,” he wrote.

Momodu disclosed that his decision to enlist carried deep personal significance. He said he chose April 12, 2026, to honour the memory of his late father, who served in the Nigeria Police Force before his death 20 years ago.
According to him, joining the U.S. Army was his way of continuing his father’s legacy of public service and discipline.
Following the completion of his training, Momodu now serves as Specialist (SPC) J.A. Momodu with the 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 3-10, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
The actor dedicated the achievement to God, his late father, and his family, expressing gratitude for the grace to pass the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) examination on his first attempt and successfully complete Basic Combat Training.
He also thanked his social media manager and the U.S. Army Recruiting Station in Burbank, California, for supporting him throughout the enlistment process.
Concluding his announcement, Momodu declared that while one chapter of his life has ended, another has just begun.
