Former Arsenal forward Ian Wright believes Argentina are the only team capable of preventing France from lifting the 2026 FIFA World Cup trophy.
Wright made the remark after France secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Sweden to book a place in the Round of 16, with captain Kylian Mbappe scoring twice in the match.
Mbappe currently leads the race for the tournament’s Golden Boot after registering six goals and two assists.
France will next face Paraguay as they continue their quest to reach a third consecutive FIFA World Cup final.
The French side, managed by Didier Deschamps, finished as runners-up at the 2022 World Cup after losing to Argentina in a penalty shootout.
Speaking on France’s chances, Wright said it would require a team with Argentina’s determination and fighting spirit to stop Les Bleus from becoming world champions once again.
