KEBBI GOVERNOR’S CAMP EXPLAINS STRATEGIC BACKING FOR TINUBU’S SECOND-TERM BID

The Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy to Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris, Abdullahi Idris, has defended the governor’s endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition, describing it as both a political and moral obligation.

In a statement, the governor’s aide said Kebbi State has recorded significant benefits from its partnership with the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government, making continued support for President Tinubu a strategic decision.

He noted that the people of Kebbi freely elected Governor Nasir Idris under the APC during the 2023 governorship election, describing the victory as a reflection of public confidence in the governor’s leadership, experience and commitment to development.

According to him, the close relationship between the state government and the Presidency has created more opportunities for qualified Kebbi indigenes to secure appointments into federal boards and commissions.

He added that President Tinubu has empowered Governor Idris to recommend competent individuals from the state for federal appointments, a move he said has restored fairness in the allocation of such positions.

The governor’s spokesman also stated that the President has remained responsive to concerns raised over the exclusion of deserving Kebbi citizens from federal appointments, resulting in greater inclusion for the state.

On security, he credited the partnership with the Federal Government for improving efforts to combat banditry, noting that Governor Idris’ support for security agencies through logistics and funding has received recognition at the national level.

He further highlighted federal agricultural interventions, saying additional support from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has complemented the state’s farming initiatives and strengthened food production.

According to him, these developments demonstrate the advantages of maintaining a strong working relationship between Kebbi State and the Federal Government.

He, however, emphasized that Governor Idris’ endorsement of President Tinubu does not infringe on the democratic rights of citizens, stressing that every Nigerian remains free to vote for any candidate of their choice.

The governor’s aide also called on APC members and supporters across Kebbi State to intensify efforts toward mobilizing support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.
