Narrated `A’ishah:
During the Prophet’s fatal illness, he used to recite the Mu’auwidhat (Surah An-Nas and Surah Al- Falaq) and then blow his breath over his body. When his illness was aggravated, I used to recite those two Surahs and blow my breath over him and make him rub his body with his own hand for its blessings.” (Ma`mar asked Az-Zuhri: How did the Prophet (ﷺ) use to blow? Az-Zuhri said: He used to blow on his hands and then passed them over his face.)
حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَى، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ـ رضى الله عنها ـ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يَنْفُثُ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ فِي الْمَرَضِ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ بِالْمُعَوِّذَاتِ، فَلَمَّا ثَقُلَ كُنْتُ أَنْفِثُ عَلَيْهِ بِهِنَّ، وَأَمْسَحُ بِيَدِ نَفْسِهِ لِبَرَكَتِهَا. فَسَأَلْتُ الزُّهْرِيَّ كَيْفَ يَنْفِثُ قَالَ كَانَ يَنْفِثُ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ، ثُمَّ يَمْسَحُ بِهِمَا وَجْهَهُ

1. Ibn al-Mulaqqin in his commentary of this hadith explained that during the illness in which the Prophet ﷺ passed away, he would recite Surah al-Ikhlas, al-Falaq, and al-Nas (the Muʿawwidhaat), blow lightly into his hands, and wipe them over his body. When he became too weak to do so himself, ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her) recited them for him and used his own blessed hand to wipe his body, seeking its special blessing. – At-Tawdih li-Sharh al-Jami as-Saheeh, Ibn al-Mulaqqin
2. Ibn al-Mulaqqin then stated that the scholars explain that this hadith establishes the legitimacy of ruqyah using the Qur’an, Allah’s names, and His attributes, while discouraging incantations containing shirk or doubtful practices. They also clarified the difference between light blowing (nafth) and spitting, noting that the Prophet’s ﷺ practice involved only a gentle breath accompanying the recitation. – At-Tawdih li-Sharh al-Jami as-Saheeh, Ibn al-Mulaqqin
3. Finally, he highlighted the permissibility of blowing lightly and wiping the body during ruqyah, the virtue of seeking healing through the Qur’an, and the permissibility of seeking blessing from the Prophet ﷺ. It also demonstrated that these Qur’an supplications may be recited both as treatment for illness and as a means of protection, reflecting the comprehensive healing and mercy found in Allah’s words. – At-Tawdih li-Sharh al-Jami as-Saheeh, Ibn al-Mulaqqin

Narrated Abu Qatada:
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said:
“When you drink (water), do not breathe into the vessel; and when you urinate, do not touch your private part with your right hand. And when you cleanse yourself after defecation, do not use your right hand.”

Qatar has inaugurated its first smart mosque, the Qais bin Saad bin Ubadah Mosque in Muaither. The mosque operates using solar energy, recycles ablution water for its toilets and gardens, and uses smart technologies to reduce electricity and water consumption. The Ministry of Endowments stated that more smart mosques are planned across Qatar.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ، عَنْ يَحْيَى، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم:
“إِذَا شَرِبَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلاَ يَتَنَفَّسْ فِي الإِنَاءِ، وَإِذَا بَالَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلاَ يَمْسَحْ ذَكَرَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ، وَإِذَا تَمَسَّحَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلاَ يَتَمَسَّحْ بِيَمِينِهِ”
NOTE 📝
1. The Prophet ﷺ was the best of teachers and nurturers. He taught his الأمة everything that brings benefit, including proper manners of eating, drinking, and personal cleanliness.
2. Al-Hafidh Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani explained in Fathul Bari that this hadith highlights the prohibition of breathing into a drinking vessel. Other narrations, including those reported from Abdullah ibn Abbas in collections such as Sunan Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi, also discourage blowing into drinks. These teachings encourage cleanliness and consideration for others.
3. Ibn Hajar further explained that the wisdom behind this guidance is to prevent contamination and unpleasant changes to food or drink. Breathing or blowing into a vessel may introduce mouth odours, food particles, or other impurities. The teaching reflects the importance of hygiene, purity, and respect when sharing food and drink.
O Allah, all perfect praise belongs to You. Keep us firm upon what is lawful and keep us away from all that You have forbidden. Forgive our shortcomings and accept our efforts. Indeed, You are All-Hearing and Ever-Responsive. Ameen.
Grant us barakah in our businesses, success in our efforts, and ease in our struggles. Protect our families, guide our children, and strengthen our faith.
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Rabbana ātinā fid-dunyā ḥasanah wa fil-ākhirati ḥasanah wa qinā ‘adhāban-nār
(Our Lord, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.)
May Allah forgive our sins — those we know and those we do not know. May He replace our worries with peace, our weaknesses with strength, and our trials with elevation.
May Allah bless us with good health, a long life filled with righteousness, and a beautiful ending (ḥusn al-khātimah).

May Almighty Allah never withhold His mercy and protection from our lives. May every blessing destined for us remain ours now and forever.
May we continually receive the divine gifts of peace (As-Salam), blessings (Barakah), good health (ʿAfiyah), love (Mahabbah), prosperity (Rizq), wisdom (Hikmah), guidance (Huda), and protection (Hifz).
May Allah accept our prayers (Duʿa’), forgive our shortcomings (Maghfirah), and grant us success (Falah) in this life and the Hereafter.

Ya Allah! Protect us from the harm we cannot see, the plans we do not know, and the dangers that surround us. Be our shield in this world and the Hereafter. Ameen.
