The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of Yoruba Nollywood actress and producer, Tope Osoba.
Osoba reportedly died on Tuesday evening at the age of 40, leaving colleagues, fans and loved ones in shock.
Her passing comes after she bravely battled breast cancer, a struggle she overcame before making an inspiring return to acting in 2025.
The news of her death was confirmed on Wednesday morning by her close friend and fellow actor, Alesh Ola Sanni.
In an emotional post on Instagram, Sanni paid tribute to the late actress, saying he had been unable to sleep since hearing the news.
“Couldn’t sleep since last night. It’s well. Rest in peace, my dearest sister, Temitope Osoba. We shared amazing moments and beautiful memories together. Till we meet again. I really don’t know what to say. Gosh,” he wrote.
Tope Osoba was widely admired for her talent, resilience and contributions to the Yoruba movie industry. Her death has sparked an outpouring of tributes from colleagues and fans who remember her for her strength and dedication to her craft.
