FORMER FINANCE MINISTER KEMI ADEOSUN LOSES HUSBAND ANTHONY AT 62

The Adeosun family has announced the passing of businessman and devoted Christian, Mr. Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, husband of former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun.

In a statement released by the family, Niyi Adeosun passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Lagos at the age of 62.

“It is with profound sorrow, yet in total submission to the will of Almighty God, that the Adeosun family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father and brother, Mr. Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, who was called home to glory on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Lagos,” the statement read.

The family described him as a respected businessman and a committed Christian whose life was marked by integrity, generosity and unwavering faith.

According to the statement, he was known for his dedication to God, his family and his community, living a life defined by hard work and selfless service.

While mourning his passing, the family appealed for prayers and support as they navigate the difficult period.

They added that details of his funeral and Christian burial arrangements would be announced at a later date.

Niyi Adeosun is survived by his wife, Kemi Adeosun, their children and his siblings, including Adewale Adeosun, founder of Kuramo Capital.

The family also expressed gratitude to everyone who had reached out with messages of condolence, prayers and support, praying that his soul would rest in peace.

President Bola Tinubu also extended his condolences to the Adeosun family, describing the late Niyi Adeosun as a compassionate man whose generosity and dedication to helping the less privileged left a lasting impact.

In a statement, the President said the testimonies about the deceased’s life reflected his strong Christian values and commitment to charity.

He urged the family, friends and business associates of the late businessman to find comfort in the legacy of faith, service and kindness he left behind, while praying for God to grant them strength during this difficult time and eternal rest for the deceased.

Kemi Adeosun served as Nigeria’s Minister of Finance between 2015 and 2018 under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, where she played a key role in shaping the country’s economic response to the 2016 recession.
