The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the ongoing Osun State election, Bola Oyebamiji, has expressed confidence in securing victory, describing the electoral process as peaceful and credible.
Oyebamiji spoke on Saturday after casting his vote at Polling Unit 011, Ward 9, Ikire, in Irewole Local Government Area of the state.
The APC candidate commended the turnout of voters in Ikire, saying the large participation reflected the determination of residents to exercise their democratic rights without fear or intimidation.
According to him, the presence of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security personnel and voters at polling centres indicated that the exercise was progressing smoothly.
“INEC officials are here, voters are here, and security operatives are also on ground. I commend the people of Ikire for coming out in large numbers. It shows that residents are not intimidated, and generally, things are going on well across the state,” he said.
Oyebamiji also called on the police and other security agencies to remain vigilant and professional in ensuring the safety of voters and maintaining peace throughout the election.
“I want to urge the police and other security agencies to be proactive in providing security for voters and ensuring a peaceful process. I believe the election will be free and credible,” he stated.
Expressing optimism about the outcome of the poll, the APC candidate said he was confident that the electorate would give him the mandate at the end of the exercise.
“I am confident that I will emerge victorious when the votes are counted,” Oyebamiji added.
