Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has once again captured public attention after breaking into an energetic dance during a live television interview following his victory in the state’s 2026 governorship election.
The moment occurred during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, hosted by journalist Seun Okinbaloye, where Adeleke was discussing his re-election and plans for his second term.
Adeleke defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in the closely contested August 15 election.
According to results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Adeleke polled 511,067 votes, while Oyebamiji scored 444,815 votes. Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) finished third with 17,180 votes.
Adeleke secured victory in 19 of Osun State’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won 11.
Adeleke breaks into dance
The interview took a lighter turn when Okinbaloye invited the governor to celebrate his victory with his trademark dance moves.
The presenter reminded Adeleke of his reputation for expressing himself through dance and asked if he would like to show Nigerians and viewers around the world how excited he was about his victory.
Adeleke enthusiastically agreed, saying, “You got it, let us do it.”
He then launched into a lively dance, displaying a series of energetic leg and body movements on live television.
The performance immediately attracted attention online, with viewers once again referring to Adeleke by his popular nickname, “Dancing Governor.”
The song played during the celebration was “Feel” by Davido, the Afrobeats singer whose real name is David Adeleke and who is the governor’s nephew.
Social media reacts
The governor’s dance generated a wave of reactions from social media users, with many praising his cheerful personality and celebrating his return to office.
Some commenters described him as a happy and relatable leader, while others used the moment to mock his political opponents following his victory over the APC.
One user wrote: “This is how a leader should be, not those one that will be feeling like God.”
Another commenter praised Adeleke and urged his critics to learn some dance moves from the returning governor.
The viral moment adds to a series of occasions in which Adeleke has used his trademark dance moves to celebrate political victories and connect with supporters.
