BANDITS ABDUCT APC CHAIRMAN IN KANO AS THIRD ATTACK HITS STATE IN THREE DAYS
Suspected bandits have abducted the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rogo Local Government Area of Kano State, Abdullahi Alhassan Beli, following a fresh attack on the Beli community.
The attackers reportedly stormed the community early Tuesday morning, September 1, firing several shots before making their way to Beli’s residence, where they reportedly abducted him.
A councillor representing Beli, Yakubu Bala, confirmed the incident, saying residents and security personnel attempted to stop the attackers but were unsuccessful.
According to Bala, security operatives later pursued the gunmen towards Dandan, a neighbouring community. The attackers reportedly abandoned three motorcycles before escaping into the surrounding area.
Bala also disclosed that a resident was shot during the attack but survived. Other reports indicated that another resident was killed, while several people sustained gunshot injuries.
The latest incident has heightened security concerns across rural communities in Kano, coming after two other reported attacks within the previous three days.
On Sunday, gunmen reportedly attacked Chiromawa in Garun Malam Local Government Area, killing three people and abducting an elderly resident who later managed to escape.
Another attack was subsequently reported in Rantan, Bebeji Local Government Area, where two residents, including APC ward chairman Garba Buba, were reportedly killed.
The repeated attacks have increased fears among residents, who are calling for stronger security measures to protect communities from further killings and abductions.
As of the time of filing this report, the Kano State Police Command had not released an official statement confirming the latest incident or providing details on efforts to rescue the abducted APC chairman.
