Reverend Isaac Omolehin has recounted how threats from bandits forced him to leave his church in Kwara State along with his family and some members of his congregation.
Omolehin, who served as a pastor in the affected community, said the growing insecurity made it difficult for him and other residents to continue living and worshipping there safely.
According to him, the situation became increasingly dangerous as bandits operated around the area, creating fear among residents and disrupting normal activities.
The cleric said he eventually had to relocate with his family after the security situation became unbearable. Some members of the church also left the community because of concerns over their safety.
He explained that leaving the church and the community was not an easy decision, particularly because of his responsibilities to the congregation. However, the security threats made remaining in the area increasingly difficult.
The pastor’s account highlights the impact of banditry on communities in parts of the country, where insecurity has forced residents, including religious leaders and worshippers, to abandon their homes and places of worship.
He called attention to the need for improved security measures to protect residents and enable people to carry out their daily activities without fear.
