Lagos State University has announced the commencement of applications for the Nigerian Education Loan Fund student loan for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The university made the announcement on Sunday through a statement posted on its official X handle, urging eligible students to take advantage of the Federal Government’s student loan scheme.
According to LASU, the application portal opened on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, and will remain open until Thursday, December 31, 2026.
The university said applicants must be duly registered LASU students and must have valid Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board registration numbers, National Identification Numbers and Bank Verification Numbers.
Students are also required to ensure that their matriculation numbers, departments and other institutional records are correctly uploaded and updated on the university portal.
LASU further advised applicants to verify their JAMB details before proceeding with their applications on the NELFUND portal.
The university warned that discrepancies or mismatches in students’ institutional and JAMB records could result in delays or disqualification.
Students experiencing difficulties with verifying or updating their records have been advised to visit the Directorate of ICT or Special Interventions for assistance.
LASU urged all eligible students to complete their applications before the December 31, 2026 deadline.
NELFUND has previously warned students to be cautious of fraudulent websites and messages claiming to provide access to its student loan scheme. The Fund has stated that its official student loan application portal is www.nelf.gov.ng.
