APC POLLS SHOW TINUBU WILL WIN 2027 ELECTION — YILWATDA

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure victory in the 2027 presidential election, citing internal surveys conducted by the ruling party.

Yilwatda made the statement during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics programme, where he said the party had conducted polls across several states and obtained results indicating that it was ahead of its political rivals.

According to the APC chairman, the party’s internal findings give it confidence in Tinubu’s re-election prospects. However, he did not publicly disclose the polls’ sample sizes, methodology or detailed findings.

Yilwatda also dismissed concerns about the opposition’s growing political activities, particularly those involving the African Democratic Congress (ADC), associated with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), associated with Peter Obi.

He argued that the opposition parties had yet to demonstrate sufficient electoral strength to threaten the APC’s position ahead of the next general election.

Defending the Tinubu administration’s economic policies, the APC chairman said the government’s tax reforms had expanded the tax base and increased public revenue, while providing benefits for low-income Nigerians.

He also highlighted changes in the electricity sector, noting that state governments now have greater opportunities to participate in electricity generation, transmission and distribution.

On the rising cost of petrol and the financial difficulties facing households, Yilwatda acknowledged that Nigerians were experiencing hardship but maintained that the situation was temporary.

The party chairman further rejected allegations that APC members were protected from prosecution over corruption-related offences. He said some members were already facing court proceedings and insisted that party affiliation did not exempt anyone from the law.

Yilwatda added that the party was reviewing its presidential campaign council and would announce its inauguration in due course. He also said he welcomed support for Tinubu’s re-election bid from individuals and political groups outside the APC.

Although the ruling party remains confident about its electoral prospects, the outcome of the 2027 presidential election will ultimately be determined by voters.
