KADUNA POLICE ARREST 12 SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS AND INFORMANTS, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLES

The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 12 suspects, comprising eight suspected kidnappers and four alleged informants, during intensified security operations in Millennium City and Maraban Rido. The police also recovered AK-47 rifles during the operations.

The arrests followed targeted raids, clearance exercises and patrols conducted in collaboration with other security agencies in response to security concerns in the affected communities.

In a statement issued on Monday, 12 October 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, identified the eight suspected kidnappers as Dauda Murna, Usman Abdullahi, Abubakar Sulaiman, Saleh Abdullahi, Usman Muhammed, Mathias Moses, Makama John and Tafarki Audu.

The four suspected informants were named as Shuaibu Sabiu, Audu Makama, Simon Moses and Amadu Mathew.

According to the police, preliminary investigations suggest that two of the suspects allegedly admitted to providing criminal elements with information about police operations and security movements. The command expressed concern that such alleged disclosures could undermine security efforts and expose officers and residents to danger.

The police said investigations were continuing to determine the extent of the suspects’ alleged involvement, identify other possible accomplices and bring those connected to the criminal activities to justice.

KADUNA GOVERNMENT PROVIDES ADDITIONAL ARMOURED VEHICLES

As part of efforts to strengthen security in the affected communities, the Kaduna State Government has released three additional Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to the police command.

The vehicles are expected to improve the command’s operational capacity and support ongoing efforts to tackle kidnapping and other criminal activities in Millennium City and surrounding areas.

The police assured residents that operations targeting suspected criminal hideouts would continue, with the aim of dismantling criminal networks, disrupting their activities and supporting efforts to rescue kidnapped victims.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Rabiu, has also ordered the immediate deployment of additional tactical personnel, operational vehicles and other security resources to the affected locations. The deployment is intended to strengthen surveillance, improve response times and prevent further criminal activities.

GOVERNMENT MEETS COMMUNITY LEADERS OVER SECURITY CONCERNS

The latest measures followed a security engagement held on 10 October 2026. The meeting brought together a state government delegation led by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Malam Sani Kila, security officials, traditional rulers, community representatives and other stakeholders.

During the engagement, Kila emphasised the importance of collective responsibility in addressing insecurity. He urged residents, community leaders, landlords and youth groups to report individuals suspected of supporting or facilitating criminal activities.

The police also highlighted the geographical challenges facing security operations in Millennium City, which is situated on the outskirts of Kaduna metropolis and is surrounded by forested areas.

Against this background, the Commissioner of Police appealed to residents to remain alert and report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station.

POLICE CALL FOR PUBLIC CO-OPERATION

CP Muhammad Rabiu urged members of the public to remain calm, vigilant and co-operative with security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could assist in tackling kidnapping and other crimes.

The command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property across Kaduna State and pledged to sustain security operations in Millennium City, Maraban Rido and neighbouring communities.

Residents were encouraged to continue supporting law enforcement agencies as efforts to apprehend suspected criminals, identify their alleged collaborators and improve public safety continue.
