NIGERIAN LAW SCHOOL CLASS OF ’86 CELEBRATES 40TH ANNIVERSARY

The Nigerian Law School Class of 1986 has celebrated its 40th anniversary, bringing together prominent figures from Nigeria’s legal profession, politics, military, judiciary and public service. The gathering marked four decades since members completed their legal training and began careers that would see many rise to influential positions across the country.

During the celebration, attendees reflected on their early days at the Nigerian Law School, recalling a period when they were young, idealistic, and filled with aspirations for the future. Forty years later, members of the cohort have established themselves in various fields, contributing to Nigeria’s legal system, governance and national development.

Members proudly describe the graduating class as the “golden set”, pointing to its record of professional achievements. The cohort was celebrated for producing a significant number of judges and Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), with speakers highlighting the class’s contribution to the development of the legal profession and its influence on younger generations of lawyers.

The class’s impact on national leadership was also a major highlight of the anniversary. According to remarks made at the event, three members of the cohort have served as Attorney-General of the Federation at different times. They include the incumbent Attorney-General, Lateef Fagbemi, whose career reflects the class’s continued presence in key positions within Nigeria’s legal and public institutions.

As the anniversary marked four decades of professional service and achievement, members renewed their commitment to mentoring younger lawyers and contributing to the country’s development. The gathering celebrated the class’s legacy while looking ahead to further opportunities for service, collaboration, and the advancement of Nigeria’s legal profession.
