TINUBU ARRIVES IN AKWA IBOM FOR APC PRESIDENTIAL RALLY, COMMISSIONS DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

Expanded FAAC Allocations and Governors’ Infrastructure Achievements Take Centre Stage in APC’s 2027 Campaign Strategy

UYO, NOVEMBER 6, 2026

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, for a major APC political engagement and the commissioning of infrastructure projects undertaken by Governor Umo Eno’s administration, as preparations intensify for the 2027 presidential election.

Accompanied by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the President was received by Governor Eno, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, senior government officials and political leaders.

The visit reflects the All Progressives Congress’s emerging campaign approach, combining grassroots political mobilisation with the presentation of development projects undertaken by state governments.

GOVERNORS SHOWCASE DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

Projects listed for presidential commissioning include the new International Terminal Building, International Airport Hospital and Ibom Aviation Village at Victor Attah International Airport.

Others include the Airport–Okopedi Road, Ring Road 3 linking Idoro Road to Ikot Ekpene Road, the AKWA-GIS Office Complex, Command and Control Centre and ARISE Palm Resort.

These investments span aviation, transportation, security, administration and tourism, providing Governor Eno with an opportunity to demonstrate his administration’s development priorities.

The Governor declared Friday a work-free day to enable residents to participate in activities welcoming the President.

EXPANDED FAAC ALLOCATIONS: FROM REVENUE TO DEVELOPMENT

The commissioning also highlights the substantial increase in Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) disbursements following the Federal Government’s fiscal reforms.

According to the World Bank’s October 2026 Nigeria Development Update, federation revenues increased by 69 per cent in real terms between 2023 and 2025, while aggregate state revenues rose by approximately 93 per cent.

The report also identified increased capital expenditure by state governments, with infrastructure representing an important component.

These additional resources have expanded governors’ capacity to finance roads, healthcare, education, transportation and other public services.

Although individual project funding requires confirmation from state expenditure records, the broader fiscal expansion has strengthened opportunities for development delivery.

President Tinubu, commenting on the World Bank’s findings in October, urged governors to manage increased revenues prudently and prioritise investments that improve Nigerians’ living standards, healthcare and education.

His position reinforces the principle that higher public revenues must translate into measurable improvements in citizens’ welfare.

The World Bank has similarly emphasised that spending efficiency, accountability and effective service delivery are essential to ensuring that public resources improve people’s lives.

APC’S GOVERNOR-LED CAMPAIGN STRATEGY

The Akwa Ibom engagement follows the APC’s presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna in October and represents another stage in the party’s nationwide political mobilisation.

The developing approach places governors and state party structures at the centre of local campaign organisation, while President Tinubu participates in major political engagements.

Beyond attracting large crowds, the strategy provides opportunities for governors to present completed projects, explain their development priorities and demonstrate how public resources have been utilised.

It also creates a platform for examining the relationship between federal fiscal reforms, increased state revenues and infrastructure development.

Akwa Ibom’s political importance extends across the South-South geopolitical zone, where electoral alliances and grassroots mobilisation will feature prominently in the 2027 contest.

RIVERS STATE NEXT

Following the Akwa Ibom visit, President Tinubu is scheduled to proceed to Port Harcourt on Saturday, November 7, for another APC political rally.

According to the Presidency, the Rivers engagement will represent the President’s third campaign rally since the Kaduna flag-off.

The successive engagements illustrate the APC’s effort to connect national leadership, governors’ political structures and development achievements.

Ultimately, voters will determine the significance of these presentations by examining the quality, sustainability and public benefits of the projects delivered.

NATIONAL PATRIOTS: GOVERNORS MUST SHOW RESULTS FROM EXPANDED FAAC ALLOCATIONS

The National Patriots observe that President Tinubu’s Akwa Ibom visit illustrates an important development in the APC’s campaign approach: connecting political mobilisation with infrastructure delivery and public accountability.

The substantial expansion of FAAC allocations following the administration’s fiscal reforms has strengthened the financial capacity of governors to undertake development programmes.

Governor Umo Eno’s presentation of completed projects offers an opportunity to examine how increased public resources are being translated into tangible benefits for citizens.

The National Patriots maintain that governors should demonstrate their achievements, account for allocations received and show measurable improvements in healthcare, education, infrastructure and economic opportunities.

Political campaigns should extend beyond rhetoric to documented performance, credible policies, realistic funding arrangements and implementation timelines.

Opposition parties should equally present their development records and practical alternatives, enabling Nigerians to assess competing governance proposals on their merits.

The ultimate measure of fiscal reform is not simply increased revenue, but the extent to which public resources improve the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
