Kwara State has attracted two major foreign direct investments valued at about $35 million, reinforcing Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s commitment to industrial development and economic expansion in the state.
The Team Lead of ER-KANG Company Limited, Sun Qing Rong, disclosed that the company has completed and commenced operations of its $20 million lithium processing plant, in line with the state government’s policy of promoting value addition and boosting local manufacturing.

Rong explained that the factory currently employs over 300 workers, most of whom are indigenes of Kwara State. He noted that the plant processes lithium into finished materials locally, rather than exporting the mineral in its raw form.
He further revealed that the company is also investing more than $15 million in establishing a pharmaceutical manufacturing firm in the state. According to him, ER-KANG will collaborate with the Kwara State Government on the development of the state’s industrial park.
“This investment is a direct outcome of the meeting we had with Your Excellency in Beijing about two years ago. Today, the lithium factory has been completed and is fully operational. This year, we are also commencing the pharmaceutical project with the support of Your Excellency,” Rong said.
He added that the pharmaceutical facility will be developed in two phases, focusing on large infusion and small-volume injection production, which would help address shortages of such medical products in Nigeria. He noted that most of the preparatory work for the project has already been completed.

Rong praised Governor AbdulRazaq for creating what he described as an “excellent investment-friendly environment” for foreign investors, adding that ER-KANG is committed to strong corporate social responsibility within its host communities.
Governor AbdulRazaq welcomed the investments, describing them as critical to job creation, technology transfer, and overall economic growth in Kwara State.
“We are ready to continue supporting you and other investors who wish to invest more in our state,” the governor assured.
Members of the ER-KANG delegation at the meeting included the company’s legal adviser, Barrister Ibrahim Atanda; Project Architect, Arch. Sayi Yekeen; Quality Control Supervisor, Shuai Hai Tao; Factory Manager, Cao Zheng Hai; Pharmaceutical Manager, Xie Chuan Li; and Administrative Manager, Mi Guang Hua.

The Governor was joined at the meeting by the Special Adviser on Special Duties, Alhaji AbdulRazaq Jiddah.
