#Afenifere Demands Immediate Release of Farotimi, Warns of Legal Action

The National Caucus of Afenifere has called for the immediate and unconditional release of Dele Farotimi, condemning his abduction and detention under questionable circumstances. Speaking at a media briefing, Deputy Leader Oladipo Olaitan criticized the manner of Farotimi’s arrest and the subsequent denial of his legal and familial rights.

Olaitan decried the practice of arresting individuals in one state and transferring them to another without informing their relatives, calling it a blatant abuse of procedure. “This must stop,” he stated emphatically, adding that the police failed to log the arrest, notify family members, or grant Farotimi access to a lawyer.

The deputy leader described the delay in granting bail as an attempt to humiliate Farotimi and detain him unjustly. He also asserted that the charges against Farotimi are not grounded in Ekiti State law, urging the police to restore their integrity by dropping the prosecution.

“We demand Farotimi’s immediate release and a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his abduction and detention,” Olaitan declared. He further hinted at the possibility of legal action, stating, “It’s not about ethnicity—it’s about justice.

Tricks like this cannot sustain a nation.”Afenifere reiterated its commitment to the rule of law, vowing to take all necessary steps to protect Farotimi’s rights. The group urged authorities to act swiftly to resolve the matter and prevent further injustice.
