At least three people have been killed and three others abducted following a late-night raid by suspected bandits on Bundu Kahugu community in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The attack reportedly took place around 11pm on Monday, December 29, 2025, plunging the community into mourning and sparking renewed demands for increased security in the area.

Ishaya Dauda, National Secretary of Bundu Kahugu community, confirmed the incident to PUNCH Online on Tuesday, explaining that the assailants struck under the cover of darkness, firing sporadically and causing panic among residents.
He revealed that the community had endured a similar assault less than two weeks ago, during which four people were killed, highlighting concerns over the repeated attacks in the area.

“The attackers came late at night and began shooting. Three people were killed instantly, while three others were taken away. This is the second attack on our community in under two weeks,” Dauda said.
The victims of the latest attack have been identified as Felix Augustine, Luka Yakubu, and Ezra Namata.
Residents have appealed to the Kaduna State Government and security agencies to urgently deploy military personnel to the community to prevent further incidents. They also urged telecommunication companies to improve network coverage, noting that poor connectivity allows attackers to operate and escape with ease.

“We are pleading with the government to assist us. The weak network here is helping the attackers. We need a stronger security presence and better communication facilities to protect our people,” the community leader added.
Attempts to obtain a comment from the Kaduna State Police Command were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
