The inauguration took place in Lagos State, where President Tinubu has been in the city for several days and is set to embark on a two-day working visit to commission six key projects executed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

In a video shared on X by Sanwo-Olu’s aide, Jubril Gawat, Akpabio officiated the unveiling alongside Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Lagos East Senator Tokunbo Abiru, Governor Sanwo-Olu, and other dignitaries. While cutting the ribbon, Akpabio said, “On behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I commission these projects.”

According to the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Sanwo-Olu, Gboyega Akosile, the projects earmarked for commissioning include:

  • Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge
  • Lagos State Geographic Information Service building, Alausa
  • Lagos State Multi-Agency Complex
  • Tolu Schools Complex, Ajegunle
  • Maracana Stadium
  • Lagos Food Logistics Hub, Abijo

Akosile described the projects as “iconic, transformative, and legacy projects” that will significantly enhance infrastructure in Lagos State.

To facilitate the smooth commissioning of these developments, the Lagos State Government announced partial road closures across key corridors. Commissioner for Transportation Oluwaseun Osiyemi said the temporary restrictions were necessary to ensure safety and prevent traffic disruptions.

Specifically:

  • Wednesday, April 8 (9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.): Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge commissioning, affecting traffic around Opebi-Allen, Ikeja, and Ojota. Motorists were advised to seek alternative routes.
  • Thursday, April 9 (9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.): Tolu Schools Complex commissioning, impacting traffic in Olodi Apapa and Ajegunle.

The government urged Lagos residents and commuters to plan their movements accordingly to minimize delays during the commissioning period.
