The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State, Muhammad Gadaka, has expressed confidence that the ruling party will remain in power in Nigeria for the next 100 years.
Gadaka made the statement during the 2026 Yobe Leadership and Innovation Summit held in Damaturu. Speaking through the State Party Youth Leader, Muhammad Musa Gulani, he said the party’s policies and programmes position it to shape Nigeria’s political landscape for decades.

According to him, the APC aims to maintain control across federal, state, and local levels, stressing that meaningful national development requires continuity and more time in office.
“Our vision is to improve the lives of Nigerians and make the country great. The APC will continue to form governments at all levels for more than 100 years,” he said.
He added that the party is reviewing its progress and refining its strategies to ensure its policies translate into measurable impact, urging Nigerians to remain confident in the party’s leadership.

Gadaka’s remarks echo a similar claim once made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which had predicted it would rule Nigeria for 60 years. The statement, made in 2008 by former PDP National Chairman Vincent Ogbulafor, did not materialise, as the party lost power in 2015 after 16 years in government.
With political activities gradually intensifying ahead of future elections, such declarations are likely to fuel debate about Nigeria’s democratic space and the role of opposition parties in shaping the country’s future.
