As part of the 2024 Christmas festivities, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, marked the occasion by joining troops of the 3 Division Nigerian Army (NA) and Operation SAFE HAVEN for a festive luncheon on December 25, 2024. The event was held at the Headquarters of Operation SAFE HAVEN in Jos, Plateau State.
Represented by Major General MS Ahmed, Commander of the Armoured Corps, the COAS delivered a goodwill message, extending warm Christmas greetings to officers, soldiers, and their families. He lauded their sacrifices and dedication to addressing Nigeria’s security challenges and urged them to remain disciplined, focused, and loyal in the execution of their constitutional duties within a joint and multi-agency framework.
Lieutenant General Oluyede also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his strategic support and guidance, reaffirming the Army’s unwavering commitment to defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity, safeguarding national interests, and supporting civil authorities through collaborative efforts.
Major General AE Abubakar, General Officer Commanding 3 Division NA and Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN, praised the troops for their operational achievements throughout the year. He encouraged them to maintain vigilance and dedication in overcoming challenges in the Joint Operations Area. He also commended the leadership of General CG Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, and the COAS, whose strategic direction has driven significant operational successes through kinetic and non-kinetic measures.
The celebration attracted notable dignitaries, including heads of security agencies, retired and serving senior military officers, government officials, and industry leaders.
Highlights of the event included cultural dance performances by the Irigwe and National Youth Service Corps cultural troupes, symbolic meal serving by the COAS, cutting of a Christmas cake with troops, musical performances, presentation of souvenirs, and a group photograph.
