Suspected armed bandits have attacked a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) outpost in Niger State, making away with a service rifle.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Tuesday at an NSCDC nipping point in Ibrahim Leteh Village along the Wawa–Luma Road.
A security analyst, Zagazola Makama, disclosed the development in a post on X on Tuesday, stating that the attackers stormed the outpost around 4:30 a.m. and opened fire on the facility.

Security sources said the two NSCDC personnel on duty took cover as the assailants fired repeatedly at the patrol vehicle and the office structure at the location.
During the attack, the bandits reportedly stole a G3 rifle officially assigned to one of the NSCDC officers. No casualties were recorded in the incident.
Following the attack, security operatives visited the scene to assess and document the damage, while investigations were launched.

Efforts are currently ongoing to recover the stolen rifle and apprehend the attackers. Security presence in the area has also been reinforced to prevent further attacks.
In recent months, bandit attacks on communities and places of worship have increased, prompting the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on security. Authorities have also designated bandits and kidnappers as terrorists, vowing to deal decisively with them.
