Prince AbdulKadir Aliyu Mahe, the Chief of Staff to the Kwara State Government, has passed away.
Sources confirmed that he died on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH). Details surrounding his death remain unclear, and the Kwara State Government, led by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazak, has yet to issue an official statement.
Prince AbdulKadir was appointed Chief of Staff on November 3, 2024, following his tenure as Secretary to the State Government. He had a distinguished career, having served as a former Permanent Secretary at the Government House in Ilorin in 2003, and as Clerk of the Kwara State House of Assembly from 2004 to 2007.
A former senior official at the defunct National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) and Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Prince AbdulKadir was also the son of the late 10th Emir of Ilorin, Mallam Aliyu Abdulkadir. He was a cousin to Professor Ibrahim Agboola Gambari, former Chief of Staff to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, and a prominent figure in the Ilorin Emirate.
