President Bola Tinubu has directed security agencies to launch a comprehensive security operation in the forests of Kwara State following a rise in kidnappings and terrorist activities.
The directive was announced on Tuesday in a post on X by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare.
According to Dare, the President instructed the Nigerian Air Force to intensify air surveillance over the deep forest areas of Kwara, where armed groups are believed to be hiding.
He stated: “President Tinubu has ordered a total security cordon around the forests in Kwara State in response to recent kidnappings and terrorist incidents.
“The President has directed the Air Force to expand its surveillance across the innermost parts of these forests and maintain 24-hour monitoring in coordination with ground troops.”
- Dare further noted that the directive also covers parts of Kebbi and Niger States, where ongoing rescue efforts are expected to yield results. He urged local communities to report suspicious movements or activities to assist security agencies.

The order follows a series of disturbing incidents, including the abduction and subsequent rescue of 38 churchgoers in Eruku, as well as the kidnapping of at least 10 residents on Monday night in Isapa, a neighbouring community in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
