The National Assembly has nominated the children of prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) figures—Umar Ganduje and former Sokoto State Governor, Aliyu Wamakko—as directors in the newly established North-West Development Commission (NWDC).
A letter co-signed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, was sent to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, recommending 11 individuals for key director positions in the commission.

The letter, titled “Joint Proposal of the Speaker and Deputy Senate President for NWDC Director Appointments,” urged President Tinubu to approve the nominations, expressing gratitude for the commission’s establishment.
Background on NWDC
The North-West Development Commission was created to tackle developmental challenges in the region. President Tinubu signed the NWDC Bill into law on July 24, 2024, and in September, he submitted names for the Governing Board, including:
