The Police Service Commission (PSC) has dismissed over 200 senior police officers, including several Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs), over allegations of forgery, corruption, and tenure violations.
Reasons for the Dismissals
According to sources, the affected officers were found guilty of:
- Document forgery
- Abuse of office
- Overstaying their legal tenure
The internal investigations uncovered widespread age falsification within the police force, further exposing deep-rooted irregularities.
IGP Also Under Scrutiny
This development follows growing calls for the removal of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, who is also facing allegations of age forgery to extend his tenure.
Critics Demand Accountability at All Levels
While the PSC’s crackdown has been applauded, critics argue that disciplinary actions should not be limited to lower-ranking officers. Many are urging the commission to ensure accountability reaches the highest levels of the police force to restore integrity and public trust.
