The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a reduction in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to N899.50 per litre, offering financial relief to Nigerians during the holiday season.
This development was disclosed in a statement on Thursday, December 19, 2024, by Anthony Chiejina, the Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Group.
Festive Season Support
Chiejina stated that the price adjustment aims to ease transportation costs for Nigerians during the festive period. He highlighted that the refinery had earlier reduced the price to N970 per litre on November 24 before this latest cut.
“In addition to the reduction, consumers can now purchase an extra litre on credit for every litre bought with cash, backed by a bank guarantee from Access Bank, First Bank, or Zenith Bank,” the statement said.
Consumer-Centric Initiatives
The refinery also introduced a special holiday offer to further benefit consumers, expressing gratitude for their support. Chiejina emphasized the refinery’s commitment to providing premium quality fuel at competitive prices, while also ensuring environmental and engine safety.
Quality and Capacity Assurance
As Africa’s first privately-owned oil refinery and the world’s largest single-train refinery, the Dangote Refinery has a production capacity of 650,000 barrels per day (BPD). It is designed to meet Nigeria’s full refined petroleum product demands, with surplus capacity for export.
Chiejina reiterated the refinery’s role in eliminating Nigeria’s dependence on substandard imported fuel, which poses risks to health, machinery, and the environment.
This reduction and consumer-focused approach align with the refinery’s goal of providing affordable, high-quality petroleum products, marking a significant shift in Nigeria’s fuel industry dynamics.
