#Dangote Refinery Makes Historic First Export of Petrol to Cameroon

Dangote Refinery, the largest oil refinery in Africa, has marked a significant milestone with its inaugural export of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to Cameroon.

Neptune Oil, a prominent energy company in Cameroon, will receive the petroleum product as part of a strategic collaboration announced in a joint statement on Wednesday.

The partnership aims to deepen economic ties between Nigeria and Cameroon while addressing the growing energy demands in Central Africa. Both companies highlighted their shared vision to establish a reliable supply chain, stabilize fuel prices, and foster economic growth in the region.

Aliko Dangote, President and CEO of the Dangote Group, hailed the shipment as a milestone in African economic integration.

“This first export of PMS to Cameroon is a tangible demonstration of our vision for a united and energy-independent Africa,” Dangote said. “We are building a future where African resources are refined and traded within the continent for the benefit of our people.”

Antoine Ndzengue, Director and Owner of Neptune Oil, emphasized the importance of the collaboration for Cameroon.

“This partnership with Dangote Refinery is a turning point for Cameroon,” Ndzengue said. “By becoming the first importer of petroleum products from this world-class refinery, we are bolstering our energy security and supporting local economic development.

“This initial supply, executed without international intermediaries, reflects our commitment to serving our markets independently and efficiently.”

The partnership goes beyond this inaugural shipment, as both companies plan to explore additional initiatives to create a sustainable and efficient fuel supply chain in the region.

The export also underscores Dangote Refinery’s dual capacity to meet Nigeria’s domestic fuel needs and contribute significantly to the regional energy market. The refinery, based in Lagos, has a processing capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, making it the largest single-train refinery in the world. It represents a flagship initiative by the Dangote Group to transform Africa’s energy landscape.

For Cameroon, the deal signals a new era of energy independence. By sourcing PMS directly from Dangote Refinery, Neptune Oil has reduced the country’s reliance on international intermediaries. This development enhances Cameroon’s energy security and supports its economic growth.

“This milestone highlights the mutual benefits of intra-African trade,” the companies concluded in their statement, “and sets the stage for more robust collaborations to come.”
