DANGOTE THREATENS KADUNA BUSINESSMAN WITH N100 BILLION SUIT OVER LIBELLOUS PUBLICATION

President of Dangote Group, Dr Aliko Dangote, has given a Kaduna-based businessman, Kailani Mohammed, a seven-day ultimatum to retract a libellous publication made against him and his business or face a N100 billion lawsuit.

Dangote, in a letter to the businessman, demanded an immediate public explanation, retraction and unreserved apology for accusing him of engaging in unclean business practices, particularly in the 1980s in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The letter from Africa’s richest man was served on the Kaduna businessman by his lawyer, Dr Ogwu James Onoja, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria of Onoja Law Firm, Abuja.

In the letter dated December 20, 2025, Dangote stated that the allegations had defamed him, lowered his reputation and damaged his business interests. He faulted the claims that he was involved in unclean business activities in Port Harcourt and that his source of wealth as Africa’s richest man was questionable.

The alleged defamatory remarks were said to have been made by Kailani Mohammed during an interview aired on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, on TrustTV News. The comments were made in reaction to his petition against Dr Farouk Ahmed submitted to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The letter was titled “Demand for public explanation, retraction and unreserved public apology on your libellous publication against Alhaji Aliko Dangote, GCON” and was signed by Dr Ogwu James Onoja, SAN.

It will be recalled that Dangote recently had a public disagreement with the former Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Farouk Ahmed, whom he accused of corruption, alleging that Ahmed spent about five million dollars sending his four children to secondary schools in Switzerland.
