The Christian Association of Nigeria, Niger State Chapter, has called on both federal and state authorities to intensify efforts to address persistent insecurity and alleviate the suffering of residents across the state.

In an Easter message titled “Be Hopeful, Be Resilient, Be Compassionate,” the State Chairman, Most Rev. Dr Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, encouraged Christians to embrace the season’s spirit by extending support to widows, orphans, and other vulnerable members of society. He described Easter as a time of hope, renewal, and God’s enduring love, referencing 1 Corinthians 15:3–4.

Bishop Yohanna urged governments to take decisive action against insecurity that has destroyed communities, claimed lives, disrupted farming, and displaced citizens. He also called on residents to remain steadfast in prayer, promoting unity, peaceful coexistence, and divine guidance for leaders, particularly Governor Umaru Bago, to effectively pursue and complete ongoing initiatives under the “New Niger Agenda.”

Highlighting the importance of civic engagement, he encouraged citizens, especially Christians, to participate actively in the 2027 general elections. He further called on the state government to maintain inclusive governance that embraces all sectors of society.

“Let us live lives marked by love, mercy, compassion, and selfless service, demonstrating that the Risen Christ lives in our hearts,” Bishop Yohanna concluded.
