The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Jibrin Barau, has called on Nigerians to show patriotism by supporting President Bola Tinubu as nations worldwide face economic and governance challenges.

Speaking to journalists at the National Eid Ground in Abuja after Eid-el-Fitr prayers, Barau emphasized that unity and backing for the Federal Government are crucial for navigating global uncertainties and advancing national economic reforms.
He stated, “We must continue to support the President and pray for our country, as we face challenges seen around the world, from the Middle East to other regions. A united front at home will help our nation overcome these difficulties.”

Barau noted that conflicts abroad have far-reaching consequences for Nigeria, influencing economic stability, energy costs, and development prospects. He urged Nigerians to remain cohesive to strengthen the government’s ability to manage these external pressures.
Following the prayers, the Deputy Senate President congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and globally on completing Ramadan and called for continued national unity and prayers.

Chief Imam Professor Illiasu Usman stressed that national development cannot thrive amid insecurity, urging all levels of government to intensify efforts against crime and violence.
In a similar message, Julius Abure, factional National Chairman of the Labour Party, acknowledged the ongoing economic and political challenges in Nigeria, noting that many citizens have yet to feel the benefits of democracy since 1999.

He urged Nigerians to embrace unity, gratitude, and values such as discipline and compassion highlighted during Ramadan. Abure also called on the wealthy and leaders to prioritize the welfare of ordinary citizens beyond festive periods.
He concluded with prayers for peace and prosperity across the nation.
