The 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Bayero, has canceled this year’s Eid-el-Fitr Durbar due to security concerns in the state.
Speaking at the Nasarawa Mini Palace on Wednesday night, Emir Bayero emphasized that peaceful coexistence among the people is more important than holding the traditional Durbar festivities.
Decision Influenced by Key Stakeholders
The Emir had initially planned to mark his fifth anniversary on the throne with the Durbar celebration. However, he revealed that respected Islamic clerics, elders, stakeholders, and council members advised against it to prevent any potential unrest.
Call for Peaceful Celebrations
He urged Kano residents to use the Sallah period to strengthen family and community bonds while maintaining a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere.
The Emir also offered prayers for Allah’s blessings and mercy during Ramadan, hoping for forgiveness and divine favor upon the people of Kano.
