#Falana Denies Involvement in Planned Protest Against Afe Babalola, Warns Ekiti High Chief

Prominent human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), has cautioned High Chief Mike Oshaloni, the Oloti of Ado Ekiti, against linking his name to any planned protest regarding the defamation dispute between legal icon Afe Babalola (SAN) and activist Dele Farotimi.

In a statement on Sunday, Falana clarified that he has no involvement in any such protest, urging the public to disregard the claims made by Oshaloni. He emphasized, “I wish to state without any fear of contradiction that I am not involved in any plan to protest against Aare Afe Babalola, SAN.”

While acknowledging his history of peaceful advocacy for human rights and justice, Falana stressed that he has never participated in a protest alongside Dele Farotimi. He reaffirmed his respect for Afe Babalola’s decision to defend his reputation through legal means.]

Similarly, High Chief Kayode Apalowo, the Head Chief of Aaye Quarters in Ilawe Ekiti—Falana’s home community—condemned Oshaloni’s remarks. In a statement made available to the media, Apalowo reiterated that Falana, as a respected human rights lawyer, would never protest over a matter already before the courts.

Apalowo further cautioned Oshaloni against making statements that could strain the cordial relationship between Falana and the elder statesman, Afe Babalola.

Both Falana and Apalowo urged the public to disregard the unfounded allegations and focus on due legal processes to resolve the matter.
