The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has urged job seekers to remain patient as its online recruitment portal experiences downtime due to overwhelming traffic.
High Demand Overwhelms Portal
Following the launch of the nationwide recruitment exercise on Monday, the FCSC website and application portal suffered technical issues, displaying errors such as “504 Gateway Timeout” and DNS failures. The Head of Press and Public Relations, Taiwo Hassan, confirmed that over 16,000 applicants successfully submitted their applications within the first 24 hours, causing a temporary system overload.
“This is the first time we are conducting an online recruitment exercise, so it is expected that high traffic may cause occasional disruptions,” Hassan explained. “However, applicants have six weeks to apply, so those facing difficulties can try again later. The deadline remains March 10.”
Efforts to Restore Services
The commission’s ICT department is actively working to stabilize the system and ensure a smooth application process for all candidates. “For high-traffic websites like ours, occasional downtimes are normal as we scale and optimize the platform,” Hassan added.
The FCSC’s recruitment drive, announced on January 27, marks the first time the commission has conducted an online hiring process. The application is open to all eligible Nigerians, including persons with disabilities, with candidates allowed to apply for only one role.
Required Documents and Application Process
Applicants must upload the following documents:
- Curriculum vitae (CV)
- Degree certificates
- Certificate or declaration of age
- Local government identification
- NYSC discharge or exemption certificate
The FCSC assured the public that the process would be transparent and aimed at recruiting the most qualified candidates to serve in the Federal Civil Service.
