The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has flagged 17 locations across Abuja as criminal blackspots, raising serious concerns about public safety in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). These areas, identified through strategic policing efforts, have been the focus of sustained raids to curb criminal activities and protect public infrastructure.

- New PDP Secretariat
- Kabusa Panteka
- Ajakaita (Tungan-Maje)
- Abuja-Kaduna Road
- Jabi Panteka

- Area 1 (Monkey Village)
- Durumi Village
- Gwarimpa
- Angwan Tivi
- Mpape (Mashafa and Shishinpe villages)
- Durumi III (Burukutu Garden)
- Mabushi (Gishiri Village)
- Kubwa (by Pipeline and NEPA Road)
- Maitama (under the Transcorp Bridge)
Daily Raids and Objectives
FCT Police Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, stated that the blackspots were identified during a series of strategic raids aimed at preventing crimes, protecting public and private infrastructure, and curbing drug abuse and trafficking.
“These proactive operations target criminal hideouts to prevent crimes before they occur, protect infrastructure, and disrupt illegal activities that compromise public safety,” Adeh explained.
Key Achievements of the Raids
The police command’s sustained efforts have yielded significant successes, including:
- Arrests and Prosecutions: 348 suspects apprehended, with 320 already prosecuted in courts.
- Seizures: Confiscation of 10 trucks loaded with vandalized metals and substantial quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, along with other hard drugs.
- Recoveries:
- 26 manhole covers and 20 solar/streetlight poles.
- AEDC armored cables in large quantities, preventing further vandalism.
- 11 firearms removed from circulation, reducing the threat of violent crime.
Enhancing Public Safety
The raids have disrupted the activities of criminals involved in vandalism, theft of public infrastructure, and drug-related crimes, ensuring a safer environment for residents.

The FCT Police Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order in Abuja and called on residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely information on criminal activities.
