FIVE EX-IGS VISIT DISU, PLEDGE SUPPORT

Five former Inspectors General of Police have visited the Force Headquarters in Abuja to pledge support for the current Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.

According to Giwa, the former IGPs—Aliyu Attah, Mike Okiro, Ogbonna Onovo, Suleiman Abba, and Usman Alkali Baba—met with Disu on Tuesday to express solidarity and offer guidance.

“They understand the demands of this office, having faced its challenges firsthand. They know the sleepless nights, difficult decisions, and responsibility of leading the Force under national scrutiny,” Giwa stated.

The former police chiefs reportedly provided mentorship and practical advice, urging Disu to sustain reforms, lead intelligently, protect his officers, and uphold the trust of the Nigerian people.

Giwa noted that Disu received the delegation with humility, acknowledging the institutional history built by his predecessors and viewing his leadership as a privilege rather than a burden.

Disu was sworn in as the substantive Inspector-General of Police on March 4, 2026, at the State House Council Chambers in Abuja. His appointment followed a unanimous endorsement by the Nigeria Police Council, making him the 23rd Inspector-General of Police.
