FORMER SURINAME PRESIDENT CHANDRIKAPERSAD SANTOKHI DIES AT 67
Chandrikapersad Santokhi, former president of Suriname, has passed away at the age of 67. He led the country from 2020 to 2025 and previously served as the nation’s justice minister from 2005 to 2010.

Santokhi was also the chairman of the Progressive Reform Party and was widely recognized for his contributions to Suriname’s governance and public service.

Confirming the news, current President Jennifer Simons paid tribute to the late statesman, stating, “His many years of service in various public offices will be remembered.”

The cause of Santokhi’s death has not yet been disclosed.
