French investors, led by former French Transport Minister Mr. Djebbari Jean-Baptiste, have shown keen interest in Ogun State’s transport and logistics sector, including the proposed agro-cargo airport, dry port, Olokola Sea Port, and railway system.
Speaking after a closed-door meeting with Governor Dapo Abiodun at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Mr. Jean-Baptiste praised the state’s infrastructural developments, highlighting Ogun’s appeal as a dynamic and reliable partner for French investors in transport, logistics, and aviation.
“This is one of several meetings I’ve had with the governor. French operators are eager to invest in Ogun State, recognizing its vast potential in logistics and transportation,” he stated, noting a recent visit between President Tinubu and President Macron in France as part of the ongoing collaboration.
During his two-day visit, Mr. Jean-Baptiste’s team will tour key sites, including the Gateway International Airport, dry port, seaport, and railway infrastructure, assessing opportunities for investment in these rapidly developing projects.
Governor Abiodun highlighted Ogun’s multimodal transport master plan, which aligns with federal rail infrastructure to boost economic efficiency. “The Gateway International Airport is strategically designed to complement our dry and seaports, enabling seamless cargo movement to ease congestion at Tin Can and Apapa Ports,” he explained.
The governor also shared updates on the agro-cargo airport, noting its advanced construction status, including a completed runway, control tower, and near-finished terminal. The airport, envisioned as a hub for rapid customs processing within its “aerotropolis,” will feature a Special Agro-Processing Zone and Customs Village to streamline logistics and exports.
Emphasizing the state’s commitment to excellence, Governor Abiodun added, “Our goal is to make this the best-equipped airport in Nigeria, fostering economic growth and positioning Ogun State as a logistics and transportation leader.”
