FUBARA APPOINTS NEW CHIEF OF STAFF, SSG

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has approved the appointment of new principal officers in his administration, naming Dagogo Wokoma as Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Sunny Ewule as Chief of Staff, Government House.

The appointments were announced on Thursday, February 26, 2026, in a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi.

Both appointments take immediate effect.

The swearing-in ceremony for the new SSG and Chief of Staff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the Executive Council Chamber, Government House, Port Harcourt.

Wokoma replaces Benibo Anabraba as SSG, while Ewule takes over from Edison Ehie as Chief of Staff.

No official reason was provided for the changes in the two key positions.

The appointments come amid ongoing political realignments in the state following the resolution of the earlier rift between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike.

The development also follows the recent suspension of impeachment proceedings against Fubara by the Rivers State House of Assembly, after President Bola Tinubu intervened to restore peace between the governor and the assembly.

Prior to these appointments, Governor Fubara had dissolved his cabinet (comprising eight commissioners) and relieved all Special Advisers of their duties.

The new appointments signal a fresh phase in the administration’s leadership structure as the state prepares for future political and developmental engagements.
