GUNMEN KILL PREGNANT WOMAN, TODDLER IN KANO

Residents of Sheka Sabuwar Gandu community in Kano Municipal Local Government Area were plunged into grief on Saturday night after a pregnant woman and her 18-month-old son were reportedly murdered by unidentified attackers.

Reports indicate that the tragic discovery occurred around 8:00 pm when the woman’s husband returned home from work to find their house locked.

Neighbours revealed that the man, whose identity has been withheld for security reasons, made inquiries around the area before breaking into his home, where he discovered the lifeless bodies of his wife and child.

The incident was promptly reported to the relevant authorities.

Confirming the attack, community leader Ahmad Sani said residents were stunned by the shocking event and rushed to the scene immediately after being informed.

Sani highlighted the lack of security in the community, pointing out that a police outpost had been constructed but was yet to be staffed with officers.

“The entire community is in shock. This is usually a peaceful area, and nothing like this has ever happened here before. Our main concern is the absence of security personnel,” he said.

He called on Kano State Commissioner of Police, Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, to take urgent measures to strengthen security in the area and prevent similar incidents.

When reached for comment, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, declined to provide further details, noting that investigations are still ongoing.

Meanwhile, residents are urging security agencies to act swiftly to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure justice is served.

Observers are now questioning whether the killing was a targeted assassination or the act of bandits.
