The governor made this known on Sunday through his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, at the third edition of the APC Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons, held at the party’s secretariat in Lagos. The event was organised under the theme, “Prince of Peace.”

Sanwo-Olu described the occasion as a moment of reflection, stressing that peace has been central to the APC’s administration in Lagos State and has contributed significantly to the state’s continued growth and stability. He attributed the progress recorded in Lagos to harmony within the party and the state, giving thanks to God for sustained peace.

The governor also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership, offering prayers for renewed strength and wisdom as he steers the affairs of the nation. He urged Nigerians to embrace the values of love, forgiveness, and unity during the Christmas season, noting that these ideals represent the true essence of the celebration.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment, Sanwo-Olu assured residents that the Lagos State Government would continue to prioritise security, infrastructure development, and the welfare of all Lagosians, regardless of their background.

In his welcome address, the Lagos State Chairman of the APC, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, called on citizens to remain hopeful and to reject hatred and division. He emphasised the need for party members to sustain unity, describing it as essential for the APC to continue delivering good governance in Lagos State and beyond.

Ojelabi also appealed for continued support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus Agenda, describing both initiatives as vital to national and state development.

Explaining the significance of the event’s theme, Ojelabi said it was chosen to reflect the role of Jesus Christ as the Prince of Peace, urging leaders at all levels to govern with wisdom, fairness, and compassion.

Also speaking at the event, the Senate Majority Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, encouraged participants to reflect Christ-like values in their daily lives, describing Christmas as a season with deep spiritual meaning. He reminded Christians that Jesus Christ remains the central focus of the celebration and urged Nigerians to remove obstacles hindering their spiritual and personal growth.

The event attracted top party leaders and government officials, including members of the State Executive Council, lawmakers at the federal and state levels, traditional rulers, party stakeholders, and faithful across Lagos State.

Special prayers were offered for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the nation at large, with the prayer session led by the Lagos State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Stephen Adegbite.Headline news
