The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has strongly criticized former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, over his allegation that Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, was plotting to remove the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.

Fayose had claimed on social media that there was a plan to issue a query against the monarch, suggesting it was linked to alleged political disagreements surrounding recent traditional events in Ibadanland.

Reacting, the CCII described the allegation as false, provocative, and capable of disturbing peace in the ancient city. The council said such statements were reckless and an attempt to drag the revered traditional institution into unnecessary political controversy.
The group’s leadership stressed that Governor Makinde, being a son of Ibadanland, would not act against the interests of the Olubadan stool, and dismissed the claims as baseless and misleading.

They also urged political figures to avoid comments that could inflame tensions or mislead the public, insisting that Ibadan remains committed to unity and the protection of its cultural heritage.

In separate reactions, the Olubadan’s media aide also rejected the allegation, stating that there was no conflict between the governor and the monarch. The Oyo State government further confirmed that no such plan had ever been discussed or considered.
