A Nigerian national identified as Patrick Ngomere, for alleged cyber fraud to the tune of ₹11.73 lakh (equivalent to approximately $13,361 or N20,020,800, as at February 10, 2025).

The fraud was reported through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
Ngomere, who is said to be a resident of Greater Noida, was reportedly arrested near an Automated Teller Machine (ATM), where his mobile phone was found to be linked to the fraudulent bank account.
He later confessed to the crime.
It was reported that the scam began on December 10, 2024 when Janani Family Care Pvt. Ltd. received an email posing as its vendor, Accent Pharma, instructing payment to a new account.
Unknowingly, the company transferred Rs 11.76 lakh. The fraud was uncovered upon verification.
Investigators traced the hacked email to Nigeria and tracked the funds to a bank account in Manipur.
Surveillance footage led to Ngomere’s arrest. He was found to be in India without a valid visa and is suspected of being part of a larger criminal network.
An FIR has been filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Foreigners Act, with further investigations ongoing.
