The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has directed its members across the country to give preference to purchasing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly called petrol, from the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.

According to the association, the decision is driven by the refinery’s competitive pricing and the broader goal of boosting Nigeria’s local refining capacity. IPMAN’s National President, Abubakar Maigandi Shettima, explained that the move is intended to cut down on fuel imports while encouraging domestic production.
Shettima noted that Dangote Refinery currently offers the most attractive prices available to marketers, urging members nationwide to take advantage of the opportunity.

The directive also comes as the refinery prepares for a major logistics expansion. Beginning in January 2026, Dangote Refinery is expected to supply PMS directly to registered IPMAN members, with plans to deliver fuel to filling stations across the country at no additional cost.

IPMAN said this development could enhance supply efficiency, improve distribution stability, and potentially reduce fuel prices for consumers. The association, which accounts for over 80 per cent of petrol retail outlets in Nigeria, cautioned that persistent reliance on imported fuel weakens the domestic energy market.
