Iran’s nuclear chief, Mohammed Eslami, has reaffirmed Tehran’s right to enrich uranium ahead of any potential peace talks with the United States.
Speaking on Thursday at a memorial service for the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Eslami rejected U.S. demands that Iran halt uranium enrichment, telling the Iranian news agency ISNA, “Those are their wishes, and those wishes will be buried,” referring to the U.S.

Negotiations over Iran’s nuclear programme had already been ongoing before the recent conflict, with the U.S. aiming to prevent Tehran from developing a nuclear weapon. Iran, however, maintains that its nuclear activities are for peaceful purposes, even as it continues uranium enrichment.
Following a two-week ceasefire announced by President Donald Trump on Tuesday, officials from both countries are expected to meet in Islamabad on Friday to discuss a potential long-term peace agreement.
