#Israel Releases 90 Palestinian Prisoners Under Ceasefire Deal

Israel has released 90 Palestinian prisoners as part of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, hours after the deal took effect on Sunday.

Details of the Release

The Israeli prison authority confirmed the release, noting that most of the freed prisoners were women and minors. The majority are from the West Bank, with some from East Jerusalem. Palestinian media shared images of the released prisoners arriving in Ramallah.

Hostage Exchange Underway

On the same day, Hamas released three Israeli hostages—Romi Gonen, Emily Damari, and Doron Steinbrecher. The hostages were handed to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) before being transferred to Israeli forces and reunited with their families at a hospital in Tel Aviv.

Hamas announced plans to release four more Israeli hostages next Saturday.

Ceasefire Agreement Terms

The ceasefire agreement includes the exchange of 33 Israeli hostages for 1,904 Palestinian prisoners over six weeks.

International Mediation

The three-stage ceasefire deal was brokered by the United States, Egypt, and Qatar after months of stalemate in the 15-month Gaza conflict. It aims to halt hostilities that have devastated Gaza and strained regional stability.
