An explosion has occurred at Bagudo General Hospital in Bagudo, Kebbi State, the Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed.
The incident, which happened in the early hours of Tuesday, caused panic among residents and hospital staff in the area.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said security agencies swiftly moved in to secure the scene and prevent any further threat.
“The Kebbi State Police Command assures members of the public that the security situation is fully under control following the explosion at the General Hospital, Bagudo,” Usman said.

He explained that a joint security team made up of police officers, military personnel, and local vigilantes immediately cordoned off the area. Explosive Ordnance Disposal–Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) experts were also deployed to assess and manage the situation.

According to the police, no casualties were recorded. However, a building within the hospital staff quarters sustained damage, though the occupants had safely evacuated before the explosion.
The incident comes days after a suspected bomb explosion along the Yar’Tasha–Dansadau road in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, where several travellers were feared killed.

Despite earlier assurances by authorities of adequate security during and after the yuletide season, the latest explosion has renewed concerns over public safety.
Security agencies have commenced investigations to determine the cause of the explosion and those responsible.
